Glutathione is a very powerful intracellular antioxidant that is naturally produced by the body It has been shown to support brain health, liver function, and immune system health. After age 45, the body begins to produce less and less Glutathione itself so supplementation can be very beneficial in keeping levels up.

Most Glutathione supplements have very little bioavailability, as the molecule breaks down rapidly in the stomach after oral ingestion. Liposomal Glutathione uses a phospholipid delivery system to keep the glutathione from being broken down by stomach acid and allowing it to be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Due to the phospholipid delivery system used, Liposomal Glutathione has much greater bioavailability and is far more effective than normal Glutathione supplements.

The recommended dosage of Liposomal Glutathione is 1-2 250 mg capsules per day. While taking a higher dosage is unlikely to be dangerous, 250-500 mg is plenty to get sufficient levels. (Exact amount needed will depend how much one gets from dietary sources.)

Liposomal Glutathione is very well tolerated when taken at the recommended dosage and adverse side effects are very rarely reported. Long term supplementation of glutathione has been shown to lower zinc levels.

While some studies have shown that inhaled glutathione can trigger asthma attacks in people suffering from asthma, there is not currently enough evidence to show that this applies to orally ingested glutathione.
