Vitamin K consists of a group of fat-soluble vitamins, including Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2, both essential for building strong bones. Discovered in 1929, Vitamin K was first recognized for its role in blood coagulation. Vitamin K1 (Phylloquinone) is found in plants, while Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinones, has different forms based on the number of repeating carbon units in its side chain.

Although both forms benefit the body, only Vitamin K2 is efficiently used by soft tissues beyond the liver, thanks to its unique molecular structure. Vitamin K2 is also more bioavailable and remains active in the body longer than K1.
